For many years our classic “Eydis the Shieldmaiden” and “Ingrid the Hearthkeeper” tunics are among the best-sellers and it's absolutely not surprising - traditional t-shape tunic with exclusive Viking trim made to fit modern stature and produced of high-quality natural flax linen in a variety of colours. But what if your daily routine is full of climbing, jumping, riding and fighting? It's unlikely your dragon training is a success when your legs are encumbered with a full-length or ankle-length skirt. Same with climbing the tall tree to see the way home better. Or even cosplaying your favourite cartoon characters! The shortened version will come in handy in a variety of cases.

Sleeves are rather spacious at the biceps – so you are free to move your hands in any direction – and narrow at the wrist – so they won't dive into your dinner bowl. The skirt goes almost to the knee and can be adjusted in length with the help of a belt. Ancient silhouettes of northern soldiers and lady warriors' costumes did not differ much, however, we've added four extra gussets to make the skirt wider and emphasize the feminine silhouette.

Many years ago when we were just designing our line of Viking tunics a huge investigation of the historical sources was conducted to help us create the perfect set of trims that would be both unique and credible as a part of Viking character costume. Lots of patterns and ornaments our designer met in those studies resulted in amazingly balanced motifs you can now meet in Viking and Shieldmaiden collections. According to the people of Old Norse beliefs, embroidery on the clothes played an important role in protecting the wearer from evil spirits and used to be present at every opening, such as sleeves, neckline and hem. Following this tradition, the tunic has trim with historically inspired patterns all over the same places. In the shortened version of the tunic, we've used only the narrow version of the trim.
